Notes on a scandal

Judy Dench scares and disgusts me. Cate Blanchett is so beautiful it could turn any woman into a lesbian (or bi). The boy who gets Cate Blanchett's character under his spell is polite, boyish and exciting. BUT he is a little boy. Somehow the movie convinces me that a love affair between a 15 year old boy and a woman who has a teenage daughter IS possible. The love scenes between the two lovers aren't at all what makes this movie so good though - it's just about everything but those scenes. It's everything going on around, outside of their affair. The loving husband, the modern crazy and great family.... The movie sneaks up on you and then BOOM! - mayhem starts.
